Anita Bélanger’s Bio I started my career in make-up artistry 20 years ago after attending the School of Make-up Art in Toronto. My first few years were spent freelancing with fashion photographers to develop a portfolio which I used to expand my services into the world of film and television. While I dabbled in special effects, which satisfied my creative side, my true passion was and is the beauty industry. I freelanced for several different T.V. stations and production companies and found a home base with City TV. Working at City TV for several years gave me the pleasure of working with politicians such as Prime Minister Chrétien as well as film and stage stars including Suzanne Summers, Fabio and Donnie Osmond. I have had the pleasure of meeting David Foster who discovered universally renowned singer-entertainer Celine Dion. My favorite and most memorable job was working with Van Halen during a 2 day concert at the amphitheatre in Toronto. With an early morning (6 a.m.) start at City TV, my responsibilities included getting the on air crew ready for Breakfast Television. Next on my morning line up was City Line where I had the honour of getting Marilyn Denis made-up for her program. She truly is a beautiful and funny person. I would finish my day making up the News at Noon personalities. Assorted personalities from Much music and Bravo kept the make-up application interesting as you never knew who would be sitting in the chair. I learned how to apply a full face in record time as there were days that the clock was ticking and we were on live T.V. After these years behind the scenes, I ventured to the other side of the camera becoming an on air make-up personality. I was featured as a regular on City Line working with other beauty specialists. This popular show was entitled Make-Over Madness. My husband’s career moved us to the quaint resort town of Port Dover which ended my full time relationship City T.V. although I continue to commute to Toronto on occasion for City Line’s Make Over Madness. During my time at City Line I had started my bridal make-up business, calling my company Blushing Brides. I enjoy this part of the business since meeting new people allows me to be creative - a new face every time. I love that these clients are celebrating one of the happiest days of their lives and I am able to share it with them. The majority of my business was out of Toronto but I now service Toronto, Hamilton and London areas and of course locally (Simcoe, Port Dover). My newest endeavour is the launching of my own make-up line called Fabulous Faces www.fabulousfaces.ca. This project was something I have had in the making for quite some time. It was important to me to offer the public a make-up line that professionals use at wholesale pricing. I offer make-up kits customized for each client specific to their needs. My philosophy is: why spend time and money on drug store products when you can have a professional product and service for less; giving you ‘peace of mind’ that you are wearing the appropriate colours. This has led to speaking engagements, a challenge at first but now very enjoyable. Sharing my experience and knowledge (and a little laughter) with groups of women of all ages empowers them with a better understanding of product and application and is very rewarding for me.
